I cannot play my video files. Why?

Sometimes you get a video file, produce it or download it from somewhere, or even get it on a dvd or cd and you are unable to see it. Assuming the video is playable and there have been people who have checked that, there can be only one cause:
The codecs from your computer are not appropriate to play that specific video.

My programs crash and I get prompted to Send an Error Report.

On Windows operating system we have encountered programs crashing and giving the message: “The program has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience. [...] Please tell Microsoft about this problem [...] Send error report [...]” or “Microsoft Windows has recovered from a serious error [...]” or the computer just blocks or restarts without previous announcement.
